If you've ever stepped off the ferry and felt your whole body relax, you know this sign. The Welcome to Nantucket sign on Straight Wharf is one of those details that Nantucket people carry around with them all year — a mental image that surfaces somewhere around February when the island feels very far away.
Grey shingles, gold lettering, a weathered life ring hanging between two white-trimmed windows, birds scattered across the roofline, a clear blue sky above it all. It's not the most dramatic photograph on the island. It's just the one that means the most to the people who love it.
Whether this sign marks the beginning of your favorite week of the year or just the memory of one, this print belongs somewhere you'll see it every day.
A natural fit for Nantucket cottages, beach houses, and any room that could use a daily reminder of the island. Makes an excellent gift for anyone who has a piece of their heart permanently parked on Nantucket.
